Why this rock is probably not a meteorite:
1) The "crust" (top) is rust colored and its not shiny,
like a fusion crust
would be.
2) Inside (bottom) there are no obvious mineral grains and lots of
pores. Meteorites don't have this much porosity; most have no
obvious porosity. |
What is it? A piece of chert
with a hematite coating. |
