Why this rock is probably not a meteorite:

This was found "miles and miles from any civilization" in the mountains of Oregon.

Meteorites don't have bright red, thick, glassy coatings like this.
      
What is it?

Don't know, but it's got to be a man-made object.

Later: Thanks to Jeromy who suggested, "Picture 302 of your meteor wrong list appears to be a chunk of bowling ball. A lot of people use old bowling balls for target practice."
